Detached – Los Angeles Film School

27 Sep

Yesterday, I attended a private screening of the film Detached by out of exile films at the Los Angeles Film School. The coolest thing about working on a film is eventually getting to watch it on a huge screen with huge movie theater sound.

I love iiiiit!

Here’s a picture of Sasha (the lead character in the film), Cabo (hip hop artist who wrote 4 songs on the film’s soundtrack), and me hanging right outside the theater, by the movie poster.

In the Studio – Westlake

19 Sep

Yesterday, I spent all afternoon at a studio so, sooo beautiful called Westlake. I’ve started working on… something, I can’t tell you what it is yet because I’m not sure myself.

Engineer Antonio Resendiz is one of my favorite people to work with.

Here are some pictures from the session.

Hope everyone’s doing well!

More soon,
Judith

Recording in Monterrey – Part 2

17 Sep

When I went to Monterrey in August, I wanted to take advantage of the trip to record with some musician friends from Monterrey: Daryon Cartas (percussion) and Daniel Flores (bass).

We spent a couple of hours at a studio trying outsome new songs. Thanks again to David De la Garza for hanging out with us and taking pictures/video.

Judy @ The Broadcast Center

17 Sep

Hey, guys!

I’m psyched. I’m rehearsing for a show tonight at the Broadcast Center. It’s going to be a lot of fun, and I’m going to be trying out a bunch of new songs! I’ll let you know how it goes.

Big hug,
Judith

Recording in Monterrey – Part 1

15 Sep

When I was 16 years old, I used to play with a percussion ensamble. After I left Monterrey for college, I went from seeing those guys almost every day, to seeing them once every couple of years.

That’s not right! We finally organized a reunion and decided to get together for a jam.

Here’s a video we made of a new song called “The Only Constant Thing”.

Featuring:
Dayron Cartas: cajón
Juán Salas: congas
Irene Vela: shaker
Iván Monsiváis: darbuka
Mauricio Ponce: piano
Daniel Flores: bass

I’m so glad we finally go the chance to do this. Thank you, guys.

Hugs,
Judith
