Hey guys!
This is just a test to see if I can update the news from my phone.
Hugs,
Judith
I’ve been contributing to the Alebrije Estudios blog for several months. I wanted to post the link here in case you like video games and/or enjoy reading about my failed attempts at playing video games… hehehe!
It’s called Maluka’s Blog because Maluka is the name of my World of Warcraft character.
Oh, the things we kids do to pass the time… hahaha!
Cheers,
Judith (aka Maluka)
There are so many social websites right now… Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc., etc., etc.
Wanted to share that the one I update most frequently is my Facebook page.
Stop by, say hi, and see what I’m up to.
Add me!! Add meeeee!!
Love,
Judith
It’s official.
Alebrie Estudios has released the beta version of Microbiotics. You can download it for free through their website.
Help us out! Register to download the game (we don’t spam!) and play it for hours and hours so you can tell us if you come across any bugs or suggestions on improve the gameplay. Well, maybe not hours and hours. As much as you can.
Yay!
Writing the music for Microbiotics was fun. And as we work towards the new beta 2.0 release, I’ll be writing some more cues for it. Can’t wait!
Click here to visit Alebrije Estudios and download Microbiotics!
This is, by far, one of the coolest things I’ve ever done in my life. I got a call from Natalie Nicole saying, “Judith, do want to play at a Farm?”
Of course!!!!!!!
We spent the day at the Denham Farm, somewhere north of LA. Got to see cows and pigs, and I even chased a chicken (just a little… I’ve aaalways wanted to do that. Bad, Judy!).
We played “Can’t Save Myself” and I backed Natalie on guitar on several of her songs.
The entire day was surreal. Being away from the city, surrounded by strawberry fields… or raspberries, I think. Those kind of experiences that are good for the soul.
And the SOUND. The sound system was amazing. Best monitor mix I’ve ever heard in my life! That’s always a treat.
Life is good.
Love,
Judy
Alebrije Estudios recently uploaded a new company promo reel. Check it out! It features some of the music I composed for Microbiotics, a game they will release soon. Stay tuned for more info on this as they will need Beta Testers!
Thanks (yet agaaaain!) to Natalie Nicole Gilbert for inviting Alan Bruni and me to perform at a house concert. House concerts are the best. A very gracious host usually organizes a small party. You attend said party, perform, and then continue on partying. I spent the night getting to know a lot of people, eating shrimp and brownies (not at the same tiiiime!), and having a lovely evening.
Performed with Natalie Nicole Gilbert and her band at the Cat Club in Hollywood tonight! Can’t tell you what an amazing person Natalie is. There are no words. I’m happy I get to work with her and be her friend.
Dana, thanks for letting me play with your guitar. It’s infinitely nicer than mine. I didn’t want to give it baaaaack. Hahaha!
Click here to check out Natalie’s Facebook page and become her fan!
Thanks to Kevin for filming the show!
Click here to watch “Can’t Save Myself” live at the Cat Club!
And finally, thanks to all the folks that came out and supported us.
On August 3rd, I’m going to be joining Natalie Nicole Gilbert and her band for a couple of songs at the Cat Club in Hollywood.
Today, we had our first band rehearsal. The band is awesome. Natalie Nicole on vocals, Matt Riley on Keys, Dana Bisignano on Guitar and Bass, and Alan Bruni on percussion.
I’m playing Guitar on two songs Natalie Nicole and I co-wrote a few months ago. “Waiting” and “Can’t Save Myself”.
Check out this video of our rehearsal and come hang out with us on August 3rd!
Hehehe, so apparently, I’m the last person on the planet to join Twitter. Oops.
You are very welcome to read any new tweets on the right column of the site
And if you Twitter, too, Follow Meeeeee!
Hugs,
Judy
I had a chance to collaborate with composer Josef Peters on three trailer cues. (By trailer cues I mean the background music that is used for movie trailers, TV show trailers, etc.) That kind of music is a lot of fun to write. Aaand, the coolest part is that after writing these pieces, I got to record vocals for 2 of them, and then weird whisper effects on the third piece. Niiiiiice.
Those tracks have been licensed by Megatrax for their X-Factor 3 compilation, which is a collection of music and sound design for promos, trailers, and games.
Life is good! Hope you’re well and happy.
Love,
Judy
I recently recorded two songs for a collection called Acoustic Cafe Series, released by Summit Songs. It’s a CD that features 3 artists (Bron Hogan, Justin Sheehy, and yours truly). It’s very laid back and pretty
The new songs are “Forget the Lines” (cowritten with Lisa Mazzotte) and “Secret” (written by Lisa Mazzotte). As always, working with Lisa and engineer Antonio Resendiz was a lot of fun!
They’re now available on iTunes:
http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?i=307946951&id=307946880&s=143441
As always, thank you for supporting indie musiiiiic!
Love,
Judith
Guys!
The website looks a little weird right now. Sorry about that! I’m making several changes and I’m still trying to figure out some stuff.
Big Hug,
Judith

Hey Guys!
Well, I say this every year, but I CAN’T BELIEVE THE YEAR IS ALMOST OVEEEER!
I hope you have a wonderful time celebrating the holidays with your families and friends. I’m heading back to Monterrey tomorrow, and I’m really looking forward to all the parties and food and cake and presents.
Here’s a link to a free download. It’s a Spanish version of Silent Night that I recorded earlier this year for the soundtrack of the upcoming feature film Detached.
Take care, party safely, and ENJOY.
Love,
Judy
Today, I got to write a song with Nicole Gilbert.
We started working, and this is what happened…
Nicole played a chord on her guitar. I played another chord on mine. That was our verse. We immediately found a melody and lyrics and moved on to a chorus that basically wrote itself. The song was finished in less than an hour!
I love it when things work out so well!
The song is called “I’ve Been Waiting.”
Nicole, you rock!

Yesterday, I got to spend a few hours at Westlake recording two tracks for Summit Songs. The first song was written by Lisa Mazotte, and the second song is one Lisa and I co-wrote a few weeks ago!
I got to sing into a gorgeous Sony C-800, my favorite mic.
It gives vocals a very bright, airy vibe that I absolutely love. I wish I sounded like that all day…
We got the basics done, and now we need to add a few things here and there.
Love,
Judy
Alebrije Estudios participated in an 8-week online competition called Juego de Talento 2008. They just announced the winners and YEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Competing against 24 teams, Alebrije Estudios won 1st place with their video game concept, “Mekur’s Name”.
There’s is so much to say about “Mekur’s Name” and the competition. I want to upload some pictures and stuff, but I need to ask permission first. As soon as I get the greenlight, I’ll let you know so you can read about it in the journal!
Oh, these guys are amazing. I feel so lucky to be a part of their team.
And I hear they are celebrating tonight in Monterrey. I’ll party with them via satellite from LA…

Yeaaaaaaaaah!
“Don’t Run Away,” a song Michele Jusko and I cowrote will be featured in the upcoming TV series Blonde Charity Mafia on Lifetime TV. The song’s on the 3rd episode (air dates to be released).
Blonde Charity Mafia is the nickname three of the show’s main characters have given themselves, due to their reputation for throwing elaborate parties that raise money for charitable causes in Washington, D.C.
The song is also the first track on Michele’s new album, The Great Unknown.
More about the series:
http://buzzsugar.com/1883279
Michele Jusko’s passion for singing and songwriting started at the ripe old age of seven, in a little apartment in Queens, New York, when she wrote her first original song “Another Peanut Butter Love Song.”
She recently released her debut album, The Great Unknown. The first track on the CD is “Don’t Run Away,” a song we wrote together.
You can check out her music here:

Congratulations Micheeeeeeeeeeele!
Yesterday, I attended a private screening of the film Detached by out of exile films at the Los Angeles Film School. The coolest thing about working on a film is eventually getting to watch it on a huge screen with huge movie theater sound.
I love iiiiit!
Here’s a picture of Sasha (the lead character in the film), Cabo (hip hop artist who wrote 4 songs on the film’s soundtrack), and me hanging right outside the theater, by the movie poster.
Yesterday, I spent all afternoon at a studio so, sooo beautiful called Westlake. I’ve started working on… something, I can’t tell you what it is yet because I’m not sure myself.
Engineer Antonio Resendiz is one of my favorite people to work with.
Here are some pictures from the session.
Hope everyone’s doing well!
More soon,
Judith

When I went to Monterrey in August, I wanted to take advantage of the trip to record with some musician friends from Monterrey: Daryon Cartas (percussion) and Daniel Flores (bass).
We spent a couple of hours at a studio trying outsome new songs. Thanks again to David De la Garza for hanging out with us and taking pictures/video.
Click HERE to see the pics from the session.
Click HERE to watch a video of a new song called “I Gotta Leave”
Hey, guys!
I’m psyched. I’m rehearsing for a show tonight at the Broadcast Center. It’s going to be a lot of fun, and I’m going to be trying out a bunch of new songs! I’ll let you know how it goes.
Big hug,
Judith
When I was 16 years old, I used to play with a percussion ensamble. After I left Monterrey for college, I went from seeing those guys almost every day, to seeing them once every couple of years.
That’s not right! We finally organized a reunion and decided to get together for a jam.
Here’s a video we made of a new song called “The Only Constant Thing”.
Featuring:
Dayron Cartas: cajón
Juán Salas: congas
Irene Vela: shaker
Iván Monsiváis: darbuka
Mauricio Ponce: piano
Daniel Flores: bass
I’m so glad we finally go the chance to do this. Thank you, guys.
Hugs,
Judith
out of exile films just released the trailer for the feature film Detached!
Detached is a movie about a… nevermind, watch the trailer instead. It will do a much better job at telling you what the story is about… hahaha!
I worked as Music Supervisor on this film, and I also recorded a Spanish version of Silent Night and a new original song for the soundtrack.
There’s gonna be a private screening on September 25th, and I can’t wait. It should be a fun night.
Big hug,
Judith
Hey, guys!
I’m in a happy mood because I just drank some delicious coffee and ate a bagel. That’s my favorite thing to do on Saturday mornings.
This week, I started working on the original score for a short film by writer/director David De la Garza. It’s called “The Wait”.
What makes this short film such a challenge is that it was originally a silent film… no noise… nothing. No footsteps, breeze, no trains or cars… nothing. So, how do you write music that doesn’t immediately jump out at you and distract you from the images?
I have no idea. hahahaha!
Just kidding. David and I have been talking about many different things we would like to try. I’ll keep you posted on the progress we make.
Hope you’re all doing well!
Big hug,
Judith
Finallyyyyy! Amalie’s new album, Safe and Sound, is now available on iTunes! You haaaave to listen to her music. Check out ”Nothing You Can Do About It”. I love the arrangement of that song. It’s haunting and gorgeous.
And also, check out “Hand in Hand”, a a song Amalie and I wrote together last year.
I love this album. Here’s the iTunes link.
Performing at La Tumba with Balta on Wednesday was a awesome. He has so much energy on stage. Here’s a pic we took at rehearsal (Daniel, Balta, me, and Jorge).
Daniel played guitar and bongos, Balta guitar and vocals, Jorge played bass, and I played cajón.
We also backed up singer/songwriter Marcela de la Garza on a couple of her songs. I was really looking forward to meeting her and about 30 minutes after I did, we were on stage together. Crazy and awesome!
Love,
Judy
Hey guys! Singer/songwriter Michele Jusko will be releasing her album soon. It features a song we co-wrote called “Don’t Run Away”. I’ll let you know the official release date as soon as it’s set. Michele was recently a staff pick at Clear Channel New Music.
Big Hug,
Judith
Hey!
Last minute show. I’m going to be performing with Baltazar Hinojosa and Marcela de la Garza at 9pm @ La Tumba, in Monterrey, Mexico tonight. I’m playing percussion and maybe even singing a little.
If you’re in town, come hang out with us! It’s going to be a great show.
Love,
Judith
Some of the guys from Alebrije Estudios will be traveling to Taipei soon, to present the company’s first prototype at TIC GLOBAL. I ended up writing music for this prototype, as well as for a trailer for the videogame MicroBiotics and the company’s presentation video. It was sooooo much fun. I can’t wait to write mooooooore!!!!!
Sadly, I can’t join them… I have to stick around here and keep writing music. I’m going into the studio soon, and that’s also pretty darn cool. (Not as cool as Taipei, though.)
Hugs,
Judith
E
arlier this year, I had the opportunity to be part of something called Soundtrack Without Film. It’s an ambitious project produced by musician/composer David Adrián. With original music composed by David, the album features 25 guest musicians/arrangers from 5 continents, and 5 female singers.
I got to write lyrics for (and perform) a song called “Reflections”. The album will be released at some point later this year.
Alebrije Estudios was featured in an article in The Economist! Imagine the joy I felt telling my dad, who’s 100% business man, that through music I somehow managed to sneak my way into that publication… hahaha! I love it.
The article (in Spanish, translation coming soon) talks about how Alebrije was formed, the company approach and goals, and the rise of the video game market in recent years.
Megatrax is a licensing company in Los Angeles. They have a library of music in their control and they are dedicated to placing those tracks on Film/TV.
In May, composer Joey Peters and I wrote an instrumental track for them that will be part of their “Lifestyles” collection, which is music for potential placement in cooking shows, style shows, that kind of thing.
Megatrax’s credits include 24, Scrubs, Medium, Crash (the movie), CSI and so on.
Alebrije Estudios, a videogame company I work for, was one of the winners at the 2008 TIC AMERICAS competition for young innovators and entrepreneurs! Congratulations guys!
Alebrije Estudios was among 29 finalists, picked from 854 companies, who participated in the competition on May 29-30 in Medellin, Colombia.
The company received the award for Creative Design and this will give us the opportunity to present the company at TIC GLOBAL in Taipei on August 2nd.
Several folks from the team traveled to Colombia to represent the company and they had a great time talking business with everyone there.

Finally! Here are some pictures from the gig at El Tumbaito earlier this year.
Helloooooo!
I hope everyone’s doing great. It was COLD in Los Angeles today! I still get confused when the weather is not nice and warm…
Yesterday, I attended a screening of the feature film Detached by out of exile films. It was a party for the cast and crew and a great chance to get to know everyone involved a little better.
The screening took place at the house where the film was shot, and that was a pretty interesting experience… to be watching the living room in the film while sitting IN it. hahaha!
Big Hug,
Judy
(Picture: Directors Tianna Langham and Chris Bessounian, and yours truly)
Ok, here’s one of the best things about being friends with singer/songwriters that you really, REALLY like and admire:
You get to listen to advance copies of their albums!!!
My good friend Amalie Riis from Denmark will be releasing her 2nd album called “Safe and Sound” on April 15th. One of the tracks is a song we wrote together last year called “Hand in Hand”.
If you haven’t listened to some of Amalie’s music, check her out on MySpace. She has a GORGEOUS voice and writes lyrics that are so honest they make me smile and shake my head in amazement.
The whole album is beautiful. As soon as it’s available, I’ll let you know where you can get it!
More soon,
Judy
Helloooo!
I’m happy to share some news with you guys: I’m now part of Alebrije Estudios, a videogame company! I’ve joined the company as Composer and Engineer… and I can’t wait to get started on the music for their first prototype, MicroBIOTICS.
Happy Valentine’s Day. I hope everyone gets to eat tons of chocolate.
I’ve recently been working with out of exile films as Music Supervisor on their upcoming feature film Detached. The film was directed by Chris Bessounian and Tianna Langham.
Aaaaaand… I also got to record some songs for it!
There are several short Christmas tracks (traditional songs, I didn’t write those of course!) and a new song in Spanish called “Tu Amor es un Engaño”.
Can’t wait for the film to be released!
More soon,
Judy
Guitarrist Alexander Knutsen recently received an endorsement from SmolskiTech, a pedal-building company fronted by electronics guru Matt Smolski.
That’s awesome, Alex! Congratulations!
If you want to see why people call Alex “Norwegian Rock God”, watch this video on YouTube.
Cheers,
Judy
The show last night was absolutely AWESOME. We are so happy that we got a chance to play at El Tumbaito. The place is beautiful, and the stage has a very warm vibe. Over 150 people showed up! Unbelievable.
Thank you so, soooooo much to everyone that made it. I mean it. You made it such a special night for us. It was great to see you, and we hope you had a good time!
There’s TONS of photos and videos from the show and rehearsals. I’ll be uploading them as soon as I can! So, come back sooooooon!
Cheers,
Judy
Yesterday, I went to the 90.5 Fuerza Aerea radio show in Monterrey. Ricardo Ramos, the host, was awesome. We talked about the process of making All of the Above, future plans for recording, and about the upcoming show at El Tumbaito.
Ricardo played four songs from the CD and he let me perform two songs live, which was a new experience for me. I loved it. I had such a good time.
One of the best parts about the interview was the topics that Ricardo chose to talk about. He knows a lot about music and always kept the conversation focused on the most interesting parts of being a musician and a songwriter.
I will be posting some of the things we talked about in the journal page in a couple of weeks. Right now, I’m trying to get everything ready for the show next week!
Big, big hug to everyone. Have a great weekend! (And happy birthday to Alain and Rafa!!!)
Cheers,
Judith
Hi, guys!
Happy New Year! I hope everybody had a wonderful time celebrating.
Life is good. Website updates… not so good. I’m working on several different things at the moment and haven’t had much time to post new things. My apologies.
The most exciting thing at the moment is I’m playing a show in Monterrey next week! I can’t wait. I’ll be joined on stage at El Tumbaito Latin Bar by Alexander Knutsen on Electric Guitar, Jack DeBoe on Drums, Pablo Gonzalez on Bass, Noel Savon on Percussion, and Alejandro Cervantes on Piano/Violin.
As you can see, we have 3 different musicians in the lineup for this performance and I’m looking forward to see what they will bring to the songs. (We’re still gonna miss Matt and Ian!) Check out the Shows page for date/venue info and join us if you’re in town!
More soon.
Rock on,
Judy and Camila (one of our dogs)
Hey Everyone!
Music Aid is a wonderful organization dedicated to raising awareness of world issues such as global warming. The winning songs in this competition will be sold through their website and all royalties will be donated to a charity of the winner’s choice.
They pick winners for all categories in each country, and then from all these winners they pick overall international award winners. “Fairytale” won the Best Female Solo Artist Award, and “Everything” won the Best Songwriter Award!
Love,
Judy

Hello and HELL YEAAAAAH!
“I Can’t Make It Rain” won the Canary Islands International Trophy for Best Song of 2007!
Yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!! hahahahahahaha!
Love,
Judith
Competing against entries from North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, “I Can’t Make It Rain” is a finalist in the Canary Islands International Song Contest!
Winners will be announced someday… hahaha! In November, I think.

Judith
Hey Everyone!
“Everything” is the third track in this New Acoustic Music CD released by the the International Acoustic Music Awards (IAMA).
It features songs by all the winners. “Everything” won First Place in the Best Female Artist category a few months ago.

Judith
Today, David De la Garza, Oliver Cantu and I went to Abraham Mendoza’s radio show. We were invited by Roberto Valdes, a Mexican filmmaker and critic who runs the website www.todoelcine.com.mx . He invited us to talk about the process of making the short film “Sobrecamas”.
I’m always amazed by how some people were simply born to be on radio. Abraham and Roberto were talking so naturally, and there I was, trying to avoid saying “uhmmm” and other silly things…
(Pictured: Oliver Cantu, David De la Garza, Roberto Valdes, Judith)

Judith
“Sobrecamas” was reviewed in a supplement of the newspaper Provincia called Cortometraje, and the music was mentioned!
Click here to read the full article and partial translation. I’ve only translated the parts that reference “Sobrecamas”. Full translation coming soon.
A third screening of “Sobrecamas” will be held on Wednesday at 3pm at Casa Natal Morelos.
Love,
Judith
Great news! The short film “Sobrecamas” is an official selection of the Pantalla de Cristal Film Festival in Mexico City!
Love, Judith
There’s a first time for everything. At noon today, we got to do a little bit of press stuff for the short film, “Sobrecamas”. We talked to reporters and were invited to a radio show on Wednesday! I was a little nervous about saying the wrong thing (I’m ALWAYS nervous… I hope this goes away with time. hehehe!)… but the reporters were incredibly nice and kind and that made us feel at ease.
I should also mention, “Sobrecamas” will be featured in a Mexican TV show called Abrelatas, that airs independent short films! More info when I get it.
Love,
Judith
The second screening of “Sobrecamas” went very well! By the time we left the theater, we found out that a newspaper from Morelia had written a review of the short films screening from the day before and mentioned “Sobrecamas” as one of the highlights! Yeaaaah!
Click here to read the review. Translation coming soon.
Love,
Judith
A live performance of “Everything” and possibly “Covered in Red”, too, will be featured on a TV show about musicians that airs in Dallas, TX! These performances are from the Dallas Songwriters Association Awards Ceremony in 2005. More info as soon as I get it.
Love,
Judith
“Sobrecamas” was screened tonight at the Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia. David, Oliver and I had a great time. Sitting at the movie theater, waiting for the film to start, I was more nervous than I’ve ever been on stage. You’re sitting with the audience here, seeing exactly what they are seeing, entirely surrounded by their reactions to the film… It’s not easy! haha!
Luckily, the film got a great response. We’re happy, and proud, and tired, and looking forward to the second screening tomorrow, and the rest of the festival.
More soon,Judith
Tomorrow, I’m going to Morelia, Michoacán for the Morelia Film Fest, the biggest film festival in México.
Can’t wait to see how the audience is going to react to “Sobrecamas” by David De la Garza, a short film I wrote music for. I’ll be meeting up with David and Oliver Cantú (one of the lead actors) who are also attending.
“Sobrecamas” will be screened twice, Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 2:30pm at Cinépolis (centro).
Love,
Judith
The Festival de la Canción was a lot of fun. All styles of music, really cool performances, and even a little bit of drama… hahaha! Seriously, it was great.
It was an interesting experience, having to discuss all the songs and performances with the rest of the judges and not always agreeing. Sometimes you have to fight for songs, and other times, you have to try your best to understand the opinions of those around you.
I hope I get another chance to do this again soon!
Love,
Judith
This Saturday, September 22nd, I will be part of the jury at the Festival de la Canción, a songwriting and performance competition that takes place in Monterrey, México.
I can’t tell you how cool this is! The Festival de la Canción was the first competition I ever won and it feels great to come back seven (wow!) years later and get to experience the other side of the process.
Love,
Judith
Performing in New Orleans was a dream come true. Alex and I had a fantastic time playing an acoustic set at Ray’s Room as part of the Cutting Edge Music Business Conference.
Aaaaand… I took my guitar, walked to the Mississippi river and just played.
That was awesome.
Love,
Judith
Next Thursday, August 23rd, Alex and I will be performing at the Cutting Edge Music Business Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. The show will be at a place called Ray’s Boom Boom Room. Click here for show info.
It’s an acoustic set and will include a couple of new songs that I can’t wait to try out live!
And come hang out with us if you’re in the area.
Love,
Judith
Helloooooo!
It’s been awhile. Summer in LA has been great. For the past month, I’ve had friends from Mexico visiting, so it’s been a whole lot of fun. And now, for some news…
Clear Channel, the company that owns pretty much all the radio stations in the universe, is now dedicating 40 hours of air time a week to independent artists.
The way it works is they have a website with music by independent artists and the songs that get the most clicks/plays are the ones which are eventually featured on air.
“Everything” was accepted and is now on their site! Whenever you get a moment, please play it play it play it so that it can climb up the charts! Once, twice, a million times a day…

Thank you thank you thank you.

“Sobrecamas” was screened on May 15th in Monterrey. It was such a cool night! I went to see the film with my parents and my good friend Caty Villarreal.
There’s David De la Garza, who wrote and directed the short film (left), and Oliver Cantu, one of the actors.
You can read more details about the film and screening in the Journal page.
Cheers,
Judy
This is awesome. It made my day. “Everything” was picked by Oasis CD (the company that manufactured All of the Above) to be featured on their Pop Sampler CD, which is distributed to radio stations and industry folks.
Here’s the cover. Kudos and many thanks to the band and the engineers who helped record this song. Some of the other artists on the sampler are Grammy winners and nominees!
Cheers,
Judy
So, it turns out “High” has been on the Pop Top 50 charts for three weeks on American Idol Underground (the online indie branch of American Idol). I just got an email about it a few minutes ago.
It’s currently at #19, which is pretty darn cool.
You are most welcome to go and place your vote, but I think you have to be a registered member in order for it to count… and honestly, that’s a big pain in the ass, so just wish me good luck and we’ll call it even. hahaha! (That’s terrible self-marketing right there… Bad Judy! Bad Judy! hahahahahahaha! )
Cheers,
Bad Judy
Heeeeey!
I just finished writing the music for a short film written and directed by David De la Garza.
The process for this particular project was AWESOME. I feel that the music sort of wrote itself. The film looks great. Everybody on the crew did a fantastic job!
“Sobrecamas” will be screened on May 15th in Monterrey, along with several other short films. I’ll let you know the place and time as soon as I know. Insomniac Lounge members, stay tuned for some sneak peaks of the the music!
Oh, and Feliz Cinco de Mayooooo!!!
Love,
Judith
“High”, “Happy”, “Covered in Red”, “I Can’t Make It Rain”, and “Everything” received Honorable Mentions in the annual Billboard World Song Contest.
Yeaaaaah!
Cheers,
Judith
Lately, I’ve just been writing, writing, and writing. It’s been so much fun
You can read more about that in the Insomniac Lounge!
I’ve finally added some other videos from the site to my profile on YouTube. Now you can post them, email them to your friends, and all that good stuff!
Here’s the direct link my YouTube profile:

“Fairytale” and “Everything” were finalists in the International Acoustic Music Awards. I felt like Leonardo DiCaprio who was nominated for 2 Golden Globes this year… hehe! Oh, how I remember the days when I was absolutely in love with him… along with thousands of other girls. Ladies, can I get a show of hands?
Anyway, the’ve just posted the results and “Everything” won 1st Place in the Best Female Artist category. I wonder if Leo would date me now. HA!
Big Happy Hug,
Judith
This past weekend was so much fun. My good friend Amalie Riis (from Denmark) is in town and we got together, hung out, drank tons of coffee, watched Red Eye and Law and Order, and wrote a song.
Amalie and I met in Ireland at the Listening Room Songwriting Retreat. Even though we were roommates for a week, we didn’t get a chance to write together while we were there. I’m glad we finally had the opportunity!
The song is called “Hand in Hand”. More details about it soon. Hope everyone’s doing great!
Cheers,
Judith

So, that’s it! 2007 is here.
I hope you have a WONDERFUL year. Thank you so much for visiting, listening, and all your constant support. You rock!
Have fun, be safe, and keep in touch.
Lots of Love,
Judith
I think the holiday season should last a couple of months. It’s always good to be around friends and family. Oh, and the fooooooooood! I hope you guys had a great time.
I’m working on several new site updates. Fun stuff, mostly, so come back soon. For now, I leave you with a couple of new journal entries.
Big Hug,
Judith
New videos posted! Check out some clips of the band rehearsing in Mexico for the CD Release Party and a slideshow with pictures of the trip.
Big Hug,
Judith
If you’d like to listen to a sneak peak of the “All of the Above” CD Release Party, visit my profile on MySpace and listen to Homesick Insomniac live at La Mariachita!
It’s cold in LA. I was just about to start complaining when I realized that the guys in the band are on the east coast with snow and all. Suddenly, having to wear a hoodie and sneakers instead of flip-flops doesn’t seem like such a bad deal.
Love,
Judith
If you’ve got a minute or two, stop by the Journal page and let me know what kind of music you’re listening to at the moment…

Hi guys!
The show at the UnUrban Cafe last night went very well! Thanks to everyone who was able to join us.

Judith
My parents and I went to the LA Music Awards tonight! I’m so glad they were able to be there for such a cool experience. I’ve never been more worried about my hair being in place at all times… ha!
And my feet huuuuurt! I had the not-so-brilliant idea to wear new shoes… They looked great, but now my feet are greatly unhappy.
We had an awesome time watching all sorts of bands perform. From rock to acoustic duets to americana. The highlight of the night was getting to see Maestro Alex Gregory accept an award. He invented the 7-string Stratocaster guitar… and the Heavy Metal Mandolin… and a bunch of other crazy things.
Hugs,
Judith
PS: Check out the new VIDEO posted! It’s an acoustic version of Hesitation sung by Matt Gelfer and Ian Kagey .
I’m getting ready to head back to LA for the LA Music Awards ceremony. They just announced the winners and I won Rock Singer/Songwriter of the Year and Rock Female Vocalist of the Year! So, that’s a BIG yeaaaaah!
But I’m dreading the fact that I have to leave home in a few days. So, that’s why I’m also feeling a BIG noooooo!!!!
On Nov. 11th I’ll be performing in Santa Monica at the UnUrban Cafe with my good friend Jane Lamb, who also won an LA Music Award for Folk Singer/Songwriter of the year! Congratulations Jaaaaane!
Hugs,
Judith
So, apparently, I can make it rain… I just can’t make it stop. For a moment there, we weren’t sure if we were gonna get a chance to play outdoors for the Barrio Antiguo Festival. Thankfully, everything worked out and although there was a light drizzle, we got the job done. An incredibly fun experience, which I’ll tell you more about in a journal entry coming soon.
Thank you soooooo much for joining us tonight. I still can’t believe some people actually made it out to all 3 shows this week! You’re amazing and we love you.
Again, I leave you because I have to sleep a few hours before I drive the band to the airport. I don’t want to… Maybe I should just disappear so they miss their flights and have to stay here forever…
Take care and big hug,
Judith
Hey Everyone!
So much has been going on and I can’t wait to tell you all about it. There’s an insane amount of pictures and videos I want to post but right now, but I gotta get some sleep. We play tomorrow at the Macroplaza (weather permitting!) and it’s the band’s last day in Monterrey.
Judith de los Santos BandAll of the Above was on TV today… Featured in a local art/music/culture TV show hosted by Diana Gutierrez. We were all sitting in the kitchen watching and cheering whenever it got mentioned. hahaha!
Hanging out with Alex, Ian, Jack and Matt has been amazing. Got to take them to my favorite restaurant tonight.
Earlier today we recorded an acoustic version of Hesitation sung by Matt and Ian, and I absolutely love it! Can’t wait to upload it so you can hear it.
I could just go on and on… but I really must sleep. All I can tell you is that this whole trip home has been one of the coolest and most rewarding experiences of my life.
More soon. I promise.
Judith

“All of the Above” is now for sale on Apple’s Itunes Store. Buy the whole album or individual tracks.
It’s such a weird and cool feeling seeing it there.
I feel proud, is that cheesy?
Love,
Judith
And now, for the previously mentioned bit of news…
I’ve been nominated for four LA Music Awards! It’s the longest running independent music awards show, sponsored by the Grammys and other big names, televised, with a red carpet and everything. Sounds like a good time!
This will take place November 9th, after the CD release party in Mexico. I’ll keep you posted.
The four categories I’m nominated for are
Previous recipients and nominees include No Doubt, Dream Theater, Steve Vai, Slash, and Jack Black!
Pretty darn cool.
Big Hug,
Judith
